National Indigenous Veterans Day (November 8, 2026)
National Indigenous Veterans Day, observed annually on November 8, is a time to recognize and honour the contributions and sacrifices of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Veterans who have served Canada in times of war, conflict, and peace.
Indigenous peoples have a long and proud history of military service, with thousands serving in the Canadian Armed Forces throughout our country's history. This day provides an opportunity to acknowledge their courage, dedication, and service, and to remember the important role they have played in protecting our country.
National Indigenous Veterans Day was first established in Winnipeg in 1994 and is now recognized across Canada.
