Home School Liaison

A Home School Liaison is someone who maintains a link between the Home of the student and the School.

Attendance:  Attendance is taken twice every day. After Oh Canada! and announcements, usually 9:00 (morning), and 12:55 (afternoon). This gives the children approximately 10 minutes to be seated and ready to be accounted for. First bell rings at 8:45 in the morning, and 12:45 in the afternoon.

Very often the teacher uses his or her discretion as to whether or not the student will be marked late. Each classroom teacher must have attendance completed by 9:10 in the morning, and 1:00 in the afternoon. However if the student is still not here when the teacher has finished entering the attendance on the computer and has logged off, there is no way the teacher can change the status of that student's attendance. Changes can only be made from the Office computers, therefore the student must come to the office to let the Home School Liaison, or the Secretary know they have arrived. They will be given a late slip so the teacher than knows the she/he has checked in.

These time frames are put into place so that call back can begin to locate missing students. If your child's attendance is becoming a concern, we will notify you by phone call or letter home. Phone calls and letters home are simply to let you know how your child's attendance is.

If your child is feeling ill, please don't hesitate to keep them home from school, Any preventative measures taken to help stop the spread of the illness are appreciated by other classmates and staff. Also, if your child is at home during their time of illness, it protects them from catching other illnesses. Rest at home is sure to build up your child's immune system, so in the long term, they will miss less school!

Kidsport:  Kidsport believes that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. Camps:  The Manitoba Camping Association offers a program called the Sunshine Fund - Helping kids go to camp.
