Mathematics
The Mathematics Department provides our students with a variety of learning experiences as they work towards assisting our students in meeting the learning outcomes as outlined within Manitoba Education's approved curriculums.
Graduation from the Province of Manitoba requires that all students have a completed Mathematics credit at each grade level. The respective courses at each grade level are as follows:
- Grade 9 - Mathematics 10F - single semester or full year option
- Grade 10 - Introduction to Pre-Calculus/Applied Mathematics 20S or Essentials in Mathematics 20S
- Grade 11 - Pre-Calculus 30S, Applied Mathematics 30S, or Essentials in Mathematics 30S
- Grade 12 - Pre-Calculus 40S, Applied Mathematics 40S, or Essentials in Mathematics 40S
Students completing their compulsory Grade 12 Mathematics credit will write a Provincial Mathematics Standards Test which counts for 30% of the final grade of that credit course.
Students completing their Mathematics credits are encouraged to complete them within a regular classroom program, but alternative credit delivery settings are available to students. Registration into any one of our alternative credit delivery models is planned in consultation with our Student Services team.
Students wanting a greater opportunity for intellectual challenge and an opportunity to experience post secondary programming while in a high school setting can register for our Advanced Placement® Calculus Program by completing the outlined Advanced Placement® stream. Successful completion on the AP® examination may allow students to receive advanced credit or standing at numerous universities and colleges across Canada and the United States.
More detailed descriptions of the Mathematics credits are available by reviewing our Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School's Course Guide, visiting our Student Services Department, or contacting any member of the Mathematics Department.
