School Categories, School Event Our middle years students are going TUBING for this year’s WINTER FUN DAY ACTIVITY at the end of February. Grade 7&8 students will be going on February 26th and grade 5&6 students will be going on February 27th! The timeline and snacks/lunch are the same both days.
Please carefully read through the following information, fill out all necessary forms, and have the forms to your classroom teacher no later than February 21st.
The cost per student is $10. Our school is covering the cost of the tubing hill, helmets, lunch, and snacks. Your charge will help to cover bussing to and from the hill.
Please pay the $10 fee through SchoolCash online no later than February 21st, NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Day of Time Line:
9:00am: Leave for Valleyview Tubing Hill – Electronic devices are NOT ALLOWED at any point of this field trip, due to provincial and divisional direction.
10:15am: Arrival @ Valleyview Tubing Hill – Unload bus, group photo, greetings and information from hill staff, helmet distribution.
10:30 – 11:45am: Tubing & Snowshoeing Time – An Earl Oxford staff member/chaperone will be in the chalet at all times if any student requires assistance. Staff will also be outside always supervising the hill. Helmets are required on the snow hill at all times. Helmets are not required for tubing.
11:45am – 12:30pm: Lunch – Lunch, drinks, and snacks (AM & PM) are provided by the school. It will be a hot lunch of noodles and meat sauce/tomato sauce, with fruit, veggies, and buns as the sides. There will be juice, water, and hot chocolate available for all throughout the day. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let your home room teacher now by February 4th.
12:30 – 1:30pm: Tubing & Snowshoeing Time – Helmets must be worn at all times on the hill. Helmets are not required during snowshoeing.
1:30pm: Tubing Time Over – Students need to return their helmets.
1:45pm: Load Bus @ Macgregor – Students are in charge of making sure all of their belongings get on the bus.
1:50pm: Leave for Brandon
3:00pm: Arrival @ Earl Oxford School
Suggested Packing List:
- Appropriate outdoor weather gear: snow pants, winter jacket, toque, mittens/gloves, balaclava, appropriate foot wear
- Goggles or sunglasses
- Dress in Layers!!
- Change of clothes (in case you get wet from snow throughout the day)
- Water Bottle
