School Zone Safety Information & Resources
Every year, the Brandon Police Service Traffic and By-Law Enforcement Sections receive a high volume of concerns regarding traffic safety in school zones. Parking illegally and disregarding posted signage can lead to safety hazards and traffic congestion. Motorists are also driving dangerously through school zones and around school buses.
To enhance the safety of children attending schools in Brandon, Brandon Police Service, and the City of Brandon in partnership with the Brandon School Division, continue to work together to promote School Zone Safety, with a focus on driver and pedestrian safety within our school zones to:
- Educate the public on safe driving practices in and around school zones;
- Increase awareness of the dangers of unsafe driving in and around school zones;
- Reduce unsafe driving behaviours in and around school zones (i.e.: speeding and failing to abide by traffic laws and by-laws); and
- Basic road safety for drivers and pedestrians.
Brandon Police Service patrols school zones in the City of Brandon, and we ask motorists to do their part by being aware of and abiding by all posted signage.
We all play a part in being a good neighbour and together, we can ensure our school zones are safe for everyone.
